Taizo Ishida

“The Great Banto of Toyota”

November 16, 1988 – September 18, 1979

Taizo Ishida has served as the President of Toyota Motor Co and played an important role in rebuilding Toyota during the labour dispute of 1950s, hence given the title “The Great Banto of Toyota”, a title given to the highest amongst the merchants.

He took the office of president on the 18th of July, 1950 from Kiichiro Toyoda after his resignation. At the he was the president of Toyoda Automatic Loom Works. He served as the president until August 1, 1961 leaving the office to Fukio Nakagawa.
